A Day On The Lake
July 7, 2018
Jerry Hayner has been coming to Nestor Falls Fly-In for 20+ years, joined by his family and close friends. They enjoy flying in to fish Larus Lake for 5 day trips. Our Fly-In experience is not always just about fishing, it’s about enjoying the Wilderness and spotting the various wildlife which roam our boreal forests. This includes Black Bears, Moose, Loons and Eagles. Over the years, they’ve seen several Moose walking on the beach just in front of their cabin. For these reasons, they love the beachfront at our Larus Lake cabin. This year, they spotted a Cow Moose with her calf on the lake. As they returned to the cabin, they had not expected to find a Black Bear napping on the beach right in their front yard! Thankfully, the bear decided to move on. It’s an experience they won’t soon forget.
You can rest assured that when fishing the Bloodvien River system in Woodland Caribou Park, the fishing is going to be awesome! As expected, they enjoyed some success on the lake. They released several fish, using jigs tipped with either a minnow, leach or crawlers in about 8 to 15 feet of water. The largest Walleye they caught was 22 inches, and the largest Northern was 32 inches.
Good fishing, and a few exciting encounters with the local wildlife, ensured they returned home with some memorable stories to share with friends.
