LOVE VACATION DAYS

February 7, 2020

Dave and I are fortunate enough to live in the most beautiful location in Northwestern Ontario. We try to spend as much time as possible on the water during the warmer months but owning your own fly-in fishing camp doesn’t always allow you the opportunity to get out Walleye, Northern Pike or Bass fishing as you would hope during those summer months.

I love vacation days because this is the time that Dave and I have some freedom to hit the water. A few years ago Dave was lucky to meet Joe Miller who is a guide out of Venice Florida. We have fished with him many times now and always enjoy our time with Joe. Joe puts you onto the fish as Dave does at Nestor Falls Fly-In.

This past November we went out with Joe and the water was a little rough, actually to be honest is was REALLY rough. If you know me you know I am not fond of any rough water due to my motion sickness. Thank goodness for Bonine! It is truly a lifesaver.

While out fishing I realized how similar the fishing here was to fishing up north in Nestor Falls was. In Florida, we used hooks with squid or shrimp and up north we use jigs with a minnow or leech. We both troll for fish and release trophies while keeping the right size to enjoy for dinner!

We enjoy a good fried Walleye from back home and we have even shared our breading recipe in a past blog. Recently Dave came across a breading recipe for Tilapia in the waterline paper and thought we would share it with you today since it was mighty tasty! I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Bon Appetit !!!

Escape to the Wilderness!!
