A Cool Week on Kay Lake
June 16, 2014
Late May was chilly, but our first adventurers on Kay Lake this season didn’t mind. When Bebe and Jackie arrived a couple weeks ago, the water temperatures were a cool 45 degrees. Despite the cold weather, Lake Trout fishing was hot with Bebe releasing a Trophy Trout of 30 inches. The pair was using shallow crankbaits the color of perch in depths of 8 to 35 feet with plenty of success.
Aside from a couple rainy days, the weather was perfect for these fishing enthusiasts. One day the rain drove them off the lake, but they didn’t mind spending the afternoon sitting in the cabin and listening to the powerful, yet relaxing sound of rainfall on the lake and in the trees. To top off their Canadian vacation, they saw plenty of Northern Ontario wildlife, including beavers, otters, eagles, and loons. Not a bad start to the season!
