Herod Lake: A Must-Do for any Outdoor Adventurer

October 13, 2018

If you’re an adventurer building a list, make sure that a trip up to Herod Lake is near the top. Located 190 miles north of Nestor Falls, Herod Lake offers many drop-offs and rocky points to fish for tasty walleye, as well as countless bays and weed beds for the mighty, fun-to-fight Northern Pike. Our guests from Okmugee, Oklahoma had success throwing swim baits in the shallows and used little Joes with leeches in 6-12′ of water. They caught plenty of walleye and northern pike on their trip.

Herod Lake has much more than fishing though. For the curious among us, there are rapids to explore, wildlife to view (the boys saw a cow moose with her calf), ancient Indian pictographs, and schooling fish to watch roll at the top water.

Whatever your adventure, you’re sure to find more than one of them here at Nestor Falls Fly-In Outposts.
