THE CLEAN UP

March 27, 2020

This day like many others started off calm, beautiful, with the sun shining; And the dock full of guests waiting to be flown out to their favorite destination.

But that all changed in the late afternoon when high winds with lots of rain and hail blew through our region causing significant damage. Hydro poles busted off leaving us without power. Trees laying everywhere making travel into the base impossible!

Damaging winds (classified as those exceeding 50-60 mph) are often called “straight-line” winds to differentiate the damage they cause from tornado damage. Strong thunderstorm winds can come from a number of different processes. Most thunderstorm winds that cause damage at the ground are a result of outflow generated by a thunderstorm downdraft.

We dodged a bullet that day as some others in the industry were not as lucky; as their planes sit destroyed tied up at their docks. As a new day appeared and all was calm again the boys; Jon, Pat, and Luke busy themselves to clean up the yard and driveway allowing the guests to travel back to the base. Dave is looking for a generator so that if it happens again we will still be able to fuel the planes.

Escape to the Wilderness!
