Oh What a Sight

Far away from the city lights, surrounded by complete darkness, magic can happen, nature’s fireworks. Excited and hopeful, you wonder…” will the Northern Lights show up this evening?! ” This past September, many of our guests here at Nestor Falls Fly-In Outposts were fortunate to capture the beautiful light display of the dancing waves of light that have captivated people all over the world for years; the Northern Lights, commonly known as the Aurora Borealis.

If you have ever seen the Northern Lights, then you already know how magical they can be. They change within seconds and are absolutely breathtaking. They can appear in many colors, although pale green and pink are the most common. Shades of red, yellow, green, blue, and violet have been reported. The lights appear in many forms, from patches to scattered clouds of light to streamers, arcs, rippling curtains or shooting rays that light up the sky with a beautiful, eerie glow. The bright dancing lights of the aurora are created by the collisions between electrically charged particles from the sun that enter the earth’s atmosphere.

The Northern lights one night were seen from the base at Nestor Falls to Larus Lake to Onepine Lake.
