Recipe: Cheesy Walleye Bake
May 11, 2016
It’s that time of year to catch ‚Äì and eat ‚Äì Walleye!
If you have decent Walleye fishing near where your family lives, it doesn’t hurt to get out and “test” your gear. If anybody asks why you’re doing so much fishing, say you’re making sure everything is in good shape before a big fly-in fishing trip!
To cook your catch, try a delicious Cheesy Walleye Bake. The recipe was given to us by Greg Gammeter, and it makes for a great Sunday night meal.
Ingredients:
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 can cheddar cheese soup
- 8 oz sour cream
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
- Italian bread crumbs
- 2 lbs walleye fillets, cut in 2-3″ pieces
Directions:
In a bowl, fold together soups, sour cream, garlic, and most of the shredded cheese (keep some to sprinkle on top after baking). Lightly grease a casserole dish, cover the bottom with bread crumbs, and add some of the soup mixture to the dish. Lay in fillets, and cover with the rest of the soup mixture. Sprinkle bread crumbs on top. Cover the dish.
Bake approximately 1 hour at 350º, then remove from your oven and sprinkle with remaining cheddar cheese. Let stand to thicken. Enjoy!
