My group arrived at Lount on July 11 of 2015, for a 5 day stay. This was the first time at Lount for all of us, and the first trip to Canada for Jim, Steve, and Stewart. I have been coming to NW Ontario for the past 25 years, although not every year. I had been to Kay lake on several occasions with Nestor Falls Fly-In and had a great experience. This trip was special to me as I was introducing my friends to the “Canadian Wonderland” and they were certainly excited.
Stewart and I had been fishing a couple of hours the first afternoon when the big Pike hit my 1/8 ounce jig tipped with plastic. After a long battle (using ultralight rod and reel with 6 lb test line) the 48 inch Pike came to the net. It took even longer to revive the fish but he finally swam away for someone else to hopefully battle with. This was of course the big fish of the trip.
We all enjoyed exploring and learning Lount while catching walleye, smallmouth, and more northerns. The variety of fish and being in the river system with the moving and stained water made for a different Canadian fishing experience. The cabin and accommodations were certainly up to the standard I expected from Nestor Falls Fly-In Outposts. We are all looking forward to returning to Lount with Nestor Falls Fly-In in July of 2018. Thanks Dave and Michelle for providing such wonderful experiences in the great outdoors of Northwest Ontario.
We love hearing from our friends about their fishing trips. Thank you Larry for sharing your story with us. If you are interested in sharing your story, please email it to info@new.nestorfalls.com
