Successful Shallow Water Fishing

July 2, 2014

The Proffers and Schrock Party had quite the successful Northern Ontario fishing adventure in shallow 2-10 ft deep water. By the end of the trip, they had caught 11 Trout, and 74 Bass. The fish were well-sized, with the largest Bass at 17 inches and Trout at 22 inches.

Unfortunately, the biggest fish got away! Our guests report that Carol had the biggest Muskie they had seen in quite awhile. But right as Carol was about to bring it into the boat, the Muskie jumped and finally broke off.

Their exciting fishing vacation was accompanied by beautiful weather and wildlife. It was the second warmest trip they had every been on with Nestor Falls, though the mosquitos were at their worst. But the Proffers and Schrocks didn’t mind, because they also saw more exciting creatures, including Eagles, a Beaver, Loons, and Ruffed Grouse. They even discovered a tiny, injured Hummingbird inside the cabin.

We’re glad to see that the 2014 fly-in fishing season is bringing plenty of stories back from the north woods! Luckily, the season has only just begun and there are dozens of more adventures to be had by our guests.

Escape to the Wilderness!
