The 2014 Season Has Officially Begun!
June 9, 2014
Winter was long in Canada, but things finally got swinging here a couple weeks ago. Dick Larson and Paul Fritzke have been visiting Nestor Falls Fly-In Outposts for 24 years. They were the first fishing party on Larus Lake this year!
There was still a little bit of ice on the lake, but that didn’t slow down these fishing veterans. The walleye were keen to bite despite the cooler temperatures. The party released 22, 23, 24, 25, and 26 pounders with the biggest being around 30 inches long.
On top of some spectacular fishing, the guys spotted a bear in the woods! Luckily, they followed all of our Tips to Avoid Bear Problems and didn’t need to worry about it sneaking into their camp.
We’d also like to send these fellows a special thanks for letting us finish up some floor renovations while they were out on the water. Our good friend, Gerald, and his crew from True Line Construction put in the new floor during their stay. We had plans to do this in the spring before the guests arrived, but the lingering ice on the lakes prevented us from flying in earlier.
As the fishing season continues, be sure to continue checking our fishing blog. We’ll have plenty of stories to get you geared up for your next fly-in fishing vacation in Northern Ontario!
